Collective giving is the fastest-growing form of philanthropy in America, bringing together 370,000 donors to grant more than $3 billion in the last five years. It’s also moving philanthropy in new directions. According to new research released this week by the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy, Colmena Consulting, and Philanthropy Together:
⭐ 83% of respondents to the giving circle survey reported their group prioritizes giving to organizations supporting marginalized communities;
⭐ 77% said their group prioritizes organizations with leadership that reflects the community in which they serve;
⭐ 72% said their group provides general operating support.

Collective giving also:
⭐ shifts the narrative around who is a philanthropist;
⭐ helps donors become better informed about philanthropy and local needs;
⭐ drives greater giving in all forms;
⭐ spurs civic engagement;
⭐ and improves members’ lives: 91% reported an enhanced sense of belonging and connection; 83% reported increased confidence in their ability to have a positive impact on their community.
