On June 6, Many Hands celebrated the culmination of the 2019 grant cycle by presenting a check for $100,000 to Access Youth. Congratulations to founder and Executive Director Jodi Ovca and her team for their incredible work keeping at-risk students in school!
Many Hands Board members and Health Committee members gathered at the Silver Spring headquarters of Greater DC Diaper Bank on May 29 to present a check for $58,500 to founder and Executive Director Corinne Cannon.
This year, Many Hands honors Tom Marmet, the son of one of our founders, Betsy Marmet, by awarding the Job Readiness grant in his memory. In October 2018, Tom, who was only 22 years old, tragically was shot and killed by a stray bullet while driving home from his work at So Others Might Eat.
At Many Hands' Annual Meeting on May 16, members chose Access Youth as the recipient of the 2019 Many Hands $100,000 grant. The three other finalists--CASA/Prince George's County, Greater DC Diaper Bank, and New Endeavors by Women--will each receive a grant of $58,500.
