At the 2022 Member Kickoff, the founders of two recent Many Hands grantees–Paty Funegra, CEO of La Cocina VA, and Brett Meyers, executive director of Nourish Now–joined Many Hands Board member Katy Moore for an impassioned conversation about their work fighting food and economic insecurity in the greater Washington region. They discussed the inspiration that led them to walk away from their jobs to start new nonprofits, the challenges they have faced through the pandemic and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead, the impact they’ve had on individual clients and families, and the difference that Many Hands funding has made for their work.
Board members Mary Kwak, Karen Murrell, Wendy Gray, and Charis Keitelman also shared information about Many Hands’ grantmaking and member experience, racial equity and DEI work, and current strategic planning process and warmly invited members for the 2022 grant cycle.
