We have a lot to celebrate as we look back on 2023!

⭐ 245 donors, including 35 first-time members, supported Many Hands.

⭐ 85 volunteers participated in grantmaking and operations, including governance, finance, membership, and communications.

⭐ We made $310,000 in grants to four member-chosen nonprofits:

  • Communities in Schools of the Nation’s Capital
  • Child Resource Connect
  • Edu-Futuro
  • The Wanda Alston Foundation

⭐ We held two impactful education events, featuring past grantees and community experts:

  • In the spring, Jodi Ovca, founder and ED of Access Youth, and Kevin Hinton, CEO of Beacon House, spoke powerfully about the challenges facing DC youth, families, and educators in the aftermath of the pandemic.
  • In the fall, Joseph Leitmann-Santa Cruz, CEO of Capital Area Asset Builders, and Anne Vor der Bruegge, director of grants and initiatives at the Arlington Community Foundation, shared their experience with guaranteed income pilots and called for widespread adoption of similar programs.

⭐ We joined other local giving circles to co-host the Philanos conference, PowerUP! Baltimore, and were honored with a Spotlight Award recognizing transformational grantmaking.

⭐ The 2023 annual meeting brought members together to meet the four grantees, and the 2024 grant cycle kickoff, with special guest Mercedes Lemp, ED of My Sister’s Place, gathered new and old friends to celebrate the impact of our giving and get ready to do it all over again!

⭐ We introduced new membership options to broaden the range of voices represented in our grantmaking. Donors under 35 can now join Many Hands with a gift of $300; all donors who live or work in our service area and plan to be actively involved can request a 50% gift waiver through Many Hands Many Voices.

Join us in 2024 as we celebrate 20 years of high impact, member-driven giving!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
