How would you describe yourself to people meeting you for the first time?
Passionate educator, loyal advocate, child champion, nature enthusiast, and fun-loving friend. My husband Bryan and I live in Kensington, MD, and spend as much time as possible outside in our yard and walking the trails with Mac, our chocolate lab. I’m trying to perfect work/life balance and I’m adding new hobbies to my resume such as mahjong, pickleball, and exploring the national parks.
Describe the person who taught you the most about generosity.
My grandfather taught me about generosity. He was always giving: whether it was fruits of his labor from his garden, donations to those in need, or sharing a laugh and a smile. The biggest thing my grandfather gave was his time. He was a great listener, jumping in immediately to help a friend or family member. My grandfather passed away this past February, 2025, and I hope to keep honoring him and the incredible generosity he showed.
How would you describe your experience with Many Hands to others?
Many Hands is a fabulous organization that allows you to have a front row seat in selecting the recipient of the grant funds if you join an FAC. Getting to do a deep dive on all the organizations that apply, and narrowing them down with the other committee members allows you to hear other perspectives and viewpoints. But we share the same passion and drive to help others and choose the organization we feel can utilize the grant funds in the most productive way. My favorite experience with Many Hands has been the annual meeting where the finalists from the four organizations present in-person to the collective Many Hands members. It gives those organizations a chance to connect with the members personally and the members get to feel the organizations’ energy and passion.
Do you have any advice for someone considering becoming a member?
My advice is — DO IT!!! There’s no other grant making organization that’s like Many Hands! Even if you aren’t able to commit to joining a committee you can still feel involved by attending the annual meeting. However you should experience the unique experience of being on a committee when the time allows!
